Fatima Baashen

Fatima Salem Baashen, spokesperson for the Saudi Embassy in Washington. She is the first Saudi woman to be appointed to this high position; she took office in September 2017.

She dedicates her efforts to the empowerment of Saudi women and has multiple contributions in economic reformations, human rights, developing the private sector, along with her civic participation.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Massachusetts University at Amherst, and earned her Master's Degree in Islamic Finance from the University of Chicago.

She has held several positions, most notably a director of the Saudi Arabia Association in the U.S. She worked with the ministries of labor, economy, and planning, and served as a consultant in the social and economic strategy of the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development.
